The Industrial Biosystems Technology (IBST) Day 2023, organized by the IBST students of the Department of Biosystems Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, was successfully held on 10th October, 2023, 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 pm at the Ven. Sri Soratha Auditorium, Faculty of Technology. The event was organized to provide insights to facilitate a smooth transition from University to Industry and to celebrate the achievements and talents of past and present IBST students.
The event ceremoniously commenced with the lighting of the oil lamp, followed by the welcome speech and the speech of Dr. Dhanushka Udayanga, the Head of the Department of Biosystems Technology. The two guest speeches titled “The bridge between’’ and “Shape your attitude and sharpen your skills to be a competitive graduate’’ were delivered by Mr. Akshaya Kumarajeewa, Assistant Regional Brand Manager for Asia, Middle East & Africa for BlueBand and Mr. Dinusha Liyanarachchi, Managing Director, Trendy Solutions Pvt. Ltd, respectively. An IBST alumni panel discussion was also conducted with the participation of Mr. Anushka Dilshan, Ms. Mayumi Thanthirige, Ms. Wasuni Shashikala, Ms. Aneesha Divyani Perera, representing the 1st batch of IBST, and Mr. Lakshitha Madalagama, representing the 2nd batch of IBST to answer the questions of current undergrads about the industry experiences after graduation. The event was entertained by the esthetic events of 2nd and 3rd year IBST students.
