The Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the ‘Diploma in Polymer Processing Technology and Process Analysis’, conducted by the Department of Materials and Mechanical Technology (MMT), Faculty of Technology (FOT), University of Sri Jayewardenepura completed successfully on the 29^thSeptember, 2024 for its first batch of students of the intake 2022-2023.

This one- year diploma (SLQF 03) programme, offered by the polymer processing technology specialization of the Department of MMT, FOT, has been designed to introduce basics in polymer processing technologies and high-tech polymer instrumental analysis related to various fields including plastics, latex, dry-rubber, tyre & non-tyre products, nanotechnology, polymer composites etc. The diploma consists of both theory and practical modules related to those fields. The diploma mainly focuses in opening up new employment opportunities in the polymer field for the young generation passing G.C.E. A/L, help advancing into higher hierarchical levels for the current employers in the field, and as an added qualification for technical executives and managers working or intend to work in the polymer industry.

The programme officially commenced on 07^th– January, 2023 with its first intake of 18 members. The first round got successfully completed on 29^thSeptember, 2024 passing all the members where 09 members achieved Distinctions while 06 obtaining Merit Passes and 02 ended up with Passes. Applications for the second batch will be called in near future.
