Dr. W.P. Kaushalya M. Abeysekera pursued her BSc. degree in Plant Biotechnology from Faculty of Science, University of Colombo in 2005 with a Second Class Upper Division. She obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDMB) from the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo in 2007 and obtained Ph.D. from University of Colombo in the area of Agricultural Technology/Plant Biotechnology in 2018. She worked as a research scientist at the Herbal Technology Section of the Industrial Technology Institute (former CISIR) for more than 14 years. Currently, she is working as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Biosystems Technology, Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Her research interests include bioactive natural products/spices/foods, Nutraceuticals, and Cosmeceuticals, Herbal Technology, Scientific validation of traditional claims on health benefits of herbs and foods, and the Discovery of bioactive molecules from natural products. She has nearly 30 publications, 80 abstracts, 3 book chapters, and several awards for her credit.
