Personal Profile

Dr. D.W.M.M.M. Kumari embarked on her academic journey by earning her B.Sc. (Special) in Agricultural Technology and Management, followed by an M.Sc. in Food Science and Technology from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), Philippines, where she earned her PhD in Food Science.

Commencing her professional journey as a Lecturer (Probationary) at the Department of Animal and Food Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Dr. Kumari swiftly climbed the ranks to become a Lecturer (Transitional) and subsequently a Senior Lecturer (Grade II). After accumulating over six years of teaching experience at the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, she transitioned to the Department of Biosystems Technology, Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, where she continues to make significant contributions to academia.

Dr. Kumari’s commitment to education extends beyond her primary roles; she also serves as a member of the teaching panel for the Master of Agriculture Degree Programme under the Board of Study in Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. With her wealth of experience and passion for her field, Dr. Kumari remains a dedicated educator and a driving force in the advancement of food sciences.
