Personal Profile

Mrs. Rovini Rathnayake received her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Special degree in Statistics in 2010 with a First Class from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree, she served for one of the reputed private banks in Sri Lanka where she utilized her theoretical knowledge in Mathematics and Statistics to conduct analysis and statistical modelling related to banking. After gaining years of experience in the industry, she moved to teaching career and served many reputed Educational institutes as a teacher and Senior Lecturer (Visiting) in Mathematics and Statistics. She completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Education (2018) at Open University of Sri Lanka and obtained her M.Sc. in Bio-Statistics from the Post Graduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya (2023). In 2021, she joined the Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura as a full time Research Assistant to pursue her M.Phil. in Mathematics Education. In October 2023, she re-joined the Faculty of Technology and currently working as a Lecturer in Mathematics at the Department of Science for Technology.

• 2021-2023 – Investigating Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (MKT) in Sri Lanka in teaching two topics in Calculus: the concepts of limit and derivative.
