A team of students specializing in Energy and Environmental Technology at the Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, carried out a sustainability initiative on the reuse and recycling of used pens and books. Collection points were set up across the faculty, engaging over 1,000 students.
The project collected more than 1,000 pens and 24 kg of books, which were sorted for reuse and recycling and officially handed over to industry partners for proper management. The initiative contributed to reducing campus waste sent to landfills and promoted responsible waste management practices.
