Research Interests

My current research work is to design, build and test new potential sensors for the turbomachinery industry to track the oil condition based on chemical changes. This research involves understanding the current oil sensors and their mechanisms and also understanding the chemical changes in oil over time and extreme conditions. Many laboratory tests, as well as sensors are used to monitor oil conditions. Therefore, I am familiar with absorption measurements (IR, UV-vis), scattering (Raman), fluorescence, elemental analysis (EDX), thermal analysis (DSC, TGA, and DTA), particle counting (DLS) and viscosity measurements. I also do research on material characterizations on rechargeable batteries and fuel cells.  I am also working on solid state synthesis of materials and use of range of structural analysis procedures such as diffraction studies (X-ray, Neutron and electron), TEM, SEM and SAED. I am familiar with structural refinements (using Fullprof and GSAS software), elemental analysis (EDX) and determination of magnetic properties of materials using SQUID. My work also involve determination of electrochemical properties of materials using different techniques such as conductivity and impedance measurements.
