E.B Creasy & CO.PLC, Personal Care Division, BIC & DENTA factory has joined hands with
Faculty of Technology (FOT), University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) towards efforts taken
in environmental responsibility by providing an upcycling collection bin for used toothbrushes
and razors.
Plastic waste, particularly from everyday hygiene products, contributes significantly to
environmental pollution. Items like disposable razors and toothbrushes often end up in open
dumpsites, posing a significant environmental damage. By this initiative, the collected items
will be sent for proper recycling\/upcycling, ensuring that they are repurposed instead of
harming the environment. This initiative aligns with global sustainability goals and raises
awareness about the importance of mindful consumption and waste management.
The project was initiated by Mr. Nimantha Bhanuka, an undergraduate specialising in Energy
and Environmental Technology of the Department of Civil and Environmental Technology
(DCET), FoT, USJ under the guidance of Dr. Pabasari Arundathi Koliyabandara in parallel to
his industrial training at the E.B Creasy & CO.PLC. Special thanks go to the General
Manager of E.B Creasy & CO.PLC; Personal Care Division, BIC & DENTA factory, Mr.
Sarath Ranasinghe, Production Executive, Mr. Waruna Ramayajith, and Mr. Theekshana for
their efforts in making this project a success. The Dean of FOT, Prof. Nilmini Liyanage, Head
of the DCET Dr. Sakura Bogoda, Academic Coordinator, Dr. Vikum Premalal joined the
official handover of the collection bin along with the officials from E.B Creasy Denta and BIC
factory on 1st of April 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
